Pandora Gilboa Local School District

Providing All Students a World Class Education

What is Title I?

A Title I Schoolwide program is a method of delivering Title I services in eligible schools. This is a federally funded program that offers support to all students and families in the core subject areas. The Title I program provides additional instructional support, support services for non-academic barriers, instructional coaching, curriculum resources, parent and community engagement resources, and professional development for the Pandora-Gilboa Local School District.

TITLE I SERVICES

Students who have Title Services will receive additional reading and literacy support. The Board of Education enhances the educational program for educationally disadvantaged students using Title I federal funding. Title I funding ensures that all children have a fair, equal, and significant opportunity to obtain a high-quality education and reach, at a minimum, proficiency on Ohio's challenging state academic achievement standards and state academic assessments. A complete copy of Pandora-Gilboa's Title I Services Policy 2261, Parents Participation in Title Programs Policy 2261.01, and Parent's Right to Know Policy 2261.02 are linked below.

Student Eligibility

Schools are considered Title I eligible based on the percentage of students who participate in the Free and Reduced Price Lunch Program. It is extremely important that all families complete the Free/Reduced Lunch form annually for each student that attends our schools.

Pandora-Gilboa Elementary School has a K-4 program. This means that all K-4 students are eligible for Title I services. Students who are identified as at risk through teacher referrals and Ohio Achievement Tests will be served by a Title I teacher. In addition, some students are identified for more focused intervention based on assessments and classroom performance.

100% of P-G Teachers are Properly Licensed
We are pleased to tell parents that 100% of the teachers in the Pandora-Gilboa Local School District are considered properly licensed by the state of Ohio Department of Education & Workforce, meaning they teach in the subject area and grade level for which they hold their teaching credentials. If you ever have questions about the qualifications and/or licensure of the teachers, classroom assistants, or other staff members who are working with your child(ren), please contact the building principal directly.

PARENT COMPACT

Each student and their parent/guardian in grades K-4 is required to sign a School/Parent Compact.  The purpose of this document is to ensure that the school, parent/guardian and student all have an active role in the student’s education.

Our 2025-2026 Parent Compact is located in Final Forms with all of the other beginning of the school year forms and information that parents complete for their child at the beginning of the school year.

Educational Responsibility

Pandora-Gilboa Schools is dedicated to providing quality education for every student in the district. To accomplish this objective, the district will develop and maintain partnerships with families and students. Families, students, and teachers will share responsibility for improved student achievement.

Families are requested to support achievement in the following ways;

  • monitor homework and assignments

  • regularly ask their student(s) specific questions about their day

  • ensure daily student attendance

  • parent/guardian attendance at conferences

  • support of schoolwide behavior plans

  • become involved regularly in school activities

Students will take responsibility for:

  • their own learning

  • their homework and assignments

  • follow the school behavior plan.

School personnel will:

  • communicate with families

  • provide a high-quality curriculum

  • notify families of concerns that affect student achievement.

PARENT INVOLVEMENT

Parents involvement continues through conferences with teachers, Open House, and Parent Nights. The parent Compact provides parents an overview of our schoolwide Title I program for grades K-4. Also included is information about helping students at home.

We annually review our Parent Involvement Policy.

Here is a link to a form on which any parent can provide input for the revision of our Parent Involvement Policy. We welcome suggestion on how we can better serve parents and their children. Click Here to Comment / Provide Feedback

TITLE I REQUIREMENTS / NOTIFCATION / PARENT FEEDBACK

As a Title I school we are required to notify every parent that they may at any time request from the principal information regarding the professional qualifications of their student’s classroom teachers including:

  • Whether the teacher has met state qualification and licensing criteria for the grade level and subject areas taught;

  • Whether the teacher is teaching under emergency or temporary status in which State qualifications or licensing criteria are waived;

  • The teacher's baccalaureate degree major, graduate certification, and field of discipline; and

  • Whether the student is provided services by paraprofessionals, and if so, their qualifications.

We are required to and will provide you with a notice in a timely manner if for some unforeseen reason your child ever is assigned to be taught by, for four or more consecutive weeks, a teacher who is not properly licensed under Federal guidelines.

How We Gather Input To Guide The Title One Program

The Title I program gathers input from teachers, students and parents through annual surveys. In addition, parents annually receive a Title I compact and program introduction letter. The purpose of the school-parent compact is to build and foster the development of a school-parent partnership to help all children achieve the State's high standards. Responsibility for improved student achievement will be shared by parents, students, and teachers.
